Do the stinkin' Dew!!!

It's that time of year again... Mt. Dew Action Sports Tour! I stepped out of my comfort zone last year and attended 3 of the 4 days all by myself and loved every minute of it!! I found myself in love with the skate vert, bmx vert, park & dirt competitions... and all of a sudden had new heroes such as skaters Bucky Lasek, Sandro Dias, Shaun White... and bikers Dave Mirra, Chad Kagy, Kevin Robinson, Scotty Cranmer & Ryan Guettler... just to name a few.

This year, I roped Sara into going with me... and she, too, is now mesmerized with the whole thing!! We headed over to the "village" around 3pm (my boss let me off early, IF i promised to make it in by 8am every day the following week... blast. The sacrifices I make for the athletes I love!). We got to see the skate vert prelims, which included Shaun White (he didn't come last yr. b/c he had to train for the Olympics)... the bmx dirt final... and then the bmx vert prelims. It was AWESOME!!

I wasn't able to go back on Saturday b/c Kate was having her graduation party (that's some real love right there) and then Sunday I had my fantasy football draft. So I soaked it up as much as I could on Friday... and I'm already excited for next year!!

Just another day at the beach...

watching HOT men play beach volleyball... dang I love my life!! :-) Every year Seaside, OR hosts a beach volleyball tournament... and each year, I try my darndest to go!! Lily and I went the past 2 yrs., with the 1st yr. consisiting of sleeping in my rental car in the Safeway parking lot... oh the things you do when you're young, broke and have "shirtless boys in the sand" on your minds!! :-) Anyway, Andee was down for the adventure this year, so we packed some snacks and headed out for a day on the beach! We had beautiful weather, a great spot in the sand to watch the games and the view... i mean, volleyball was fabulous!!

Lily: do you remember the hot, bald dude from last year? He played in the finals either w/ or against your boyfriend! :-)

After the final matches we headed from Seaside to Cannon Beach to find Mo's for their famous clam chowder and good 'ole fish & chips, a few more pictures on the beach and then back home to crash in our beds. Watching volleyball can really wear ya out!! :-)

Stacey has found herself on her company's softball team for the 2nd yr. in a row. Unfortunately, they don't always have enough girl players for their games and they have to forfeit. Well, this Wednesday, Kate came to the rescue and skipped paddling practice (shhh... don't tell Alvin!) and came to CMD's rescue!! And being the true friends that WE are... Andee and I came to cheer them on! And maybe drink a beverage... and cuddle together with blankets, because even tho it's August... it was frickin' COLD! Sad to say, they didn't win... but they got a big 'ole E for effort... and it was definitely worth the frost bite and bleacher butt!

Portland bound!

Portland... where's that again? I haven't been there in ages... so it seems anyway. But first, we had to stop in Salina to make an exchange of forgotten items at Matt & Steph's! And like I'm going to complain about seeing my cutie nephews one more time!! :-) So Tiff and I chatted with Steph for about 30 minutes, I took more pics, and then it was to the airport.

Down time...

Folks started saying their goodbyes around noon on Sunday, but I scheduled my flight out of KC on Monday evening, so Tiff and I were able to stick around and hang out with the family before heading out Monday after spending time with Gma & Gpa Copeland!! So Sunday night we munched on leftovers, played a little more volleyball and watched Madea's Family Reunion... appropriate and HILARIOUS!! We watched it twice when I was home in July, but Tiff hadn't seen it, so we watched it yet again... too funny!!! :-)
