Week 35

35 weeks, 2 days - 9/1/10

Things are still going well! It's still rough to sleep at night... getting up every 1.5 - 2 hrs. now, and my hips are usually killing me enough that I have to sleep a couple of hours sitting up. But overall, I have NO complaints! I have been feeling really great... I'm not working, so I can get in my afternoon naps... Chris is doing good at getting me to walk... and the little discomfort I have, is all going to be worth the blessing we get in a couple of weeks!!! YIKES!!!! It's weird to hear that it's down to weeks... instead of months!! This pregnancy has flown by, that's for sure!!

5th Sunday!

Every time a 5th Sunday falls on the calendar, our youth group takes over the worship service! The kids greet at the doors, pass out bulletins, lead worship, give announcements, run the sound/tech desk, take offering... they do it all! And it's always SO much fun to see them participating, and the congregation LOVES seeing them up there! Chris also put together a video from some of the summer camp pictures and the kids came up and spoke about their experiences... it was a great Sunday!! And we ROCKED the worship time!! We had that stage filled!!! We had kids on the keyboard, flute, guitar, singing... and then leaders on the guitar, bass and drums!! It was awesome!!!! Wish it could be like that every Sunday!!! :-)

We got a lot of great comments after church, and everyone really seemed to enjoy the service! After church, we headed out to eat with Jack, Barbara, Jon and his 2 friends, Chris & Sam. They were in town, after a 4 day hike, climbing Mt. Olympus. Why my husband can't take a normal picture, I don't know. But Jon seems to be the same way... he was hiding for quite some time before peaking out around Sam. It must be in their blood. Punks.

Bekah's 1st Birthday!

Our friends Matt & Kim invited us to their daughter's 1st birthday! It was a beautiful day, filled with fun presents, yummy food and great fellowship with friends!! So it's not surprising that the party lasted long after the princess went to bed!! :-)

Week 34

34 weeks, 4 days - 8/27/10

We had another good doctor's appt. today! I measured right at 34 inches, which was perfect! Baby C is still in the breech position, with his head up, butt down and legs piked up. Although he did switch sides... so now his feet are on the right side. But Dr. H said that he still has plenty of room to move, as she was swishing his little head back and forth in my belly! We are now having appts. every 2 weeks, and starting at Week 36, it will be every week. She said that if Baby C hasn't moved to the proper position by next week's appt. we'll start talking about the possibility of C-sections and scheduling an appt. at the hospital to get an ultrasound to see his position and try an aversion, where they physically try to move him. As much as I'd love to see another ultrasound, I'd rather him just move on his own. I've heard the aversion isn't the most comfortable procedure, and sometimes they don't budge anyway, or they'll flip right back after it's all done. I've also heard that babies tend to just flip on their own at the last minute... so I'm praying for him to just flip on his own! Feel free to join me in that prayer!! :-)

Ugh.

Tonight, Chris and I enjoyed dinner with the Hughes out at the lake! Normally, we would have had dinner on the deck of our cabin, but considering we were greeted with a swarm of bees, and a hive under the deck the size of Chris's fist, we were forced to move dinner down to the dock! It was quite enjoyable... until we had to ride home with a dog that had apparently rolled around in dead fish while we were eating. Lovely. And just when you thought it couldn't get worse... we stopped by Jack & Barbara's to say hi and visit with Jon & his friends... and Gracie managed to get in the kitty litter. Not sure what all she ate, and I don't really want to know... but between her kitty litter breath and her dead fish cologne... she was immediately dropped into the tub when we got home. Because that's what you want to do at 10:30 at night. Thanks for the memory Gracie... no need to repeat!!!

SO CLOSE!!!

After Chris got back from middle school camp, he rested on Friday and then put a whole lot of work into the nursery! We cased in the window and added a sill... put trim up around the window and doors... added the base board AND the crown molding. He also filled in the nail holes, so now all we have left is to add caulking to seal edges, paint the trim, touch up the nail holes on the base boards and crown... and then BUY furniture!!! Woo hoo!!!

I'm so proud of him for creating this beautiful room for our precious baby boy!!! I'm amazed at the hard work that he's put into it and so impressed by his skill and motivation to learn how to do all these things... electric, dry wall, etc. And God has truly blessed us with christian men that have helped us along the way... from the electrician who came in and showed him the ropes for free... our friend Dan from church who taught him how to mud and tape drywall... to the guy who came in and measured for our new carpet. We even have a hook-up for when we decide to refinish the wood floors in the rest of the house!! God has definitely been looking out for us and blessing us through this adventure!! Baby C hasn't even arrived yet and he is already spoiled... he's got the nicest room in the house!!! :-)

Installing our new closet shelving system! I think I'm jealous!

Middle School Camp

Who wouldn't want youth pastors like these 2 fine gentlemen! :-)

Last camp of the summer!! And thankfully, it was held a little closer to town! Middle School Camp was held out at Camp David Jr. (where we have our family camp each Memorial Day weekend!) We only had 1 middle school boy attend, and Chris was in charge of games... so he went out, but I stayed in town. I didn't enjoy staying at the house by myself at night, but it was nice to be able to drive out during the day and take part in camp! I ended up going out on Tuesday and Wednesday and was able to watch the games, hang out at free time and take in the evening sessions.

Thad and Chris were introducing the days games... and what better way than in tie-dyed XXL onesies!! And just like high school camp, every game is better when it involves a slip-n-slide... so Chris demonstrated...

Daniel getting ready for the slide of his life!

Chris and Daniel took the canoe out for a bit during free time... the weather was GREAT all week long!!

Chris said he'd jump in if the girls did...

Elizabeth didn't make the first jump... and got scolded.

But she did make the plunge and actually swam to the other dock... which is more than Rachel and Chris did!

This is what I did... sat in my chair and worked on my tan. Well, Tuesday I got burned... Wednesday was a little chilly... for which, I'm sure, my skin was thankful!!

First purchase!

We have been blessed with so many great hand-me-downs!! From clothes, to toys, to swings... you name it!! I can't wait to actually get furniture in the baby's room, so I can start putting stuff away!! But last month, I saw this in Target and resisted the temptation to buy it... but when we went to Target again for our anniversary, and it was still there... I gave in. It was just too cute not to have!! :-)

Week 33

33 weeks, 6 days - 8/22/10
(Almost missed our week 33 pic again! But got it in with one day to spare!)

Chris and Gracie felt like they needed some love, too!

Weekend with the Blackburns

Ana, Paul and the girls all came up for the weekend for Ana's 20th high school reunion. Ana and Paul had festivities during the evenings, which gave Chris and I good bonding time with Jayden and Alexis. Saturday, we spent some time over at Jack & Barbara's house, replacing the water heater that decided to bust while they were gone... but luckily Paul and Chris are handy and were able to get it fixed up in time for them to come home!! And after working at the house, we headed straight to the lake!!! We had gorgeous, 80 degree weather all weekend, so it was perfect lake weather!! Sunday, Chris had to leave for middle school camp after church, so he wasn't able to join us at the lake again (bummer), but Jon and his 2 friends made it back from hiking in time to bbq with us for dinner, so that was cool! Ana's friend Susie and her family also joined us on Sunday.
