They call me Kansas: Will & Fred's Excellent Adventure

That was this year's them for high school summer camp! Chris was Will! :-) I went to winter camp in February, but that was only a quick weekend getaway, and this was a week long experience!! It was a lot of fun!! We team up with 3 other churches, so it's fun to build relationships with kids and leaders from other churches!! We work with IBC here in Port Angeles, Sequim Bible in Sequim, WA, and Christ the Rock in Port Orchard, WA. This year we had an excellent speaker, Justin, the student pastor down at UCLA. We had 2 sessions with him each day and he really broke things down for the kids, which hit home with a lot of students. We had cabin time each night with our kids, and it was cool to see how some of their prayer requests at the beginning of the week with doubts and such, were answered when they were receiving clarity through the week through his messages. God was really at work!!!

We also had crazy games each day, which Chris was responsible for leading. It was so much fun seeing him up front, in his element... being crazy!! Haha!! This year's philosphy... adding a slip-n-slide to any game makes it a million times better!! :-) The kids also had about 5 hrs. of free time each day... in which most of us immediately headed down to the lake for tubing and water fun. They also had the option of paint ball and a high ropes course on one of the days. Since our kids were down at the water each day, it was only right for me to be down there working on my tan, as well!! Altho, towards the end of the week... my tan became less important and naps started taking priority! We had great accomodations, and I actually had a room to myself with a double bed, which was nice since I'm not sleeping well these days. And the bathrooms were right down the hall, so there was no midnight trips outside to some bath house! YEAH!! And the food was EXCELLENT!! Best part was... it was full service, so we didn't have to serve it, bus the tables, or even clean when it was time to leave... it was full focus on relationship building with the kids!!!

So here's some shots (a ton actually) of our crazy games through the week... if you worried that they appear dangerous, it's because they probably are. Yes, we put trash cans on their heads and made them cross paths... yes, we dragged kids around on giant ice blocks... and yes, there was dodgeball and ultimate frisbee with sponges, kickball and clothes relays with slip-n-slides, and Chris even threw in a Survivor-type game, where they had to put letters in water balloons, launch them to a student standing on a slip-n-slide with a bucket, and rush the letter to their teammates to unscramble the puzzle "Morpheus". Good times!!
