41 weeks

and still no baby!!
41 weeks - 10/11/10

On Monday we went to the hospital for a non-stress test (NST) and an ultrasound to check my fluid levels, to make sure the placenta was still healthy enough to give Mason the nutrition he needs. Everything checked out fine... his heartbeat was good, liquid amounts were good. So we just had to wait until our weekly doctor's appointment on Thursday to get checked again. Unfortunately, there was still no change. My body is just not progressing like it should. They scheduled another NST for Thursday afternoon, just to make sure Mason was still doing well, and thankfully, he was. So now, it's inducing time.

Chris and I are scheduled to go into the hospital at 6pm on Saturday. They are going to inject prostaglandins (I think) into my cervix for a 12 hr. period and see if it will thin out and dilate. It's possible that it can jump start things, including contractions... but it's also possible that it won't work. I'm not sure if they will try to put me on Pitocin Sunday morning regardless and see how things go... or if there's no change, they might just send me home and we'll try again in a few more days. I'm not sure, we're just going with the flow. SO... most likely we'll come home with Mason on Sunday or Monday, but there's also a slight chance we won't.

So that's the scoop! Chris and I went on a dinner date tonight, since we don't know when we might have that chance again for awhile! And now it's crunch time for me to get all my last minute things done around the house!!! Hopefully my procrastination doesn't take over and I don't wait until Saturday afternoon to start a bunch of projects!! Haha!!!

DUE DATE!!!

... but no baby! :-)
40 weeks - 10/4/10

40 weeks, 3 days - 10/7/10
Thursday we had our weekly appointment, and still no progress. Dr. H scheduled us for an ultrasound to check liquids and an NST (non-stress test) for Monday at the hospital. It's just a routine test for mother's that go over their due date to make sure the placenta is still doing its job and the baby is still in a healthy environment.

Praise Team!!

In September, our friend Kim took over as music director at church! SO EXCITED!!! She has an awesome heart for worship and a great vision for the direction of worship at our church! With this new change in leadership, we've added newer, more contemporary music, as well as 3 to 4 part harmonies, drums and guitars to our worship set!!! It's been amazing!!! And such a blessing for so many reasons... one, I love serving alongside my husband, Chris is playing the guitar and I'm singing. We're also good friends with everyone on the team, so it's fun to practice and worship together!! Plus, music has always been a passion of mine... from dancing, to piano, to band, to choir and show choir... I LOVE music!! Each month we have a hymn sing at our church, and I've always envisioned a monthly contemporary worship set... which is still a possibility for the future, but is also our reality each Sunday!! It's been 2 weeks... and it's been AWESOME!!!

Day before due date!!

Week 39

39 weeks - 9/27/10

At this week's appointment, not much has changed. Still no progress, in fact, Mason managed to move back up instead of down! And thanks to some Braxton Hicks contractions, Dr. Hennessy had some trouble confirming that Mason's head was still down. She was pretty sure it was still down, but since he moved up, it was hard to tell. To be sure, she sent us to the hospital for a quick ultrasound. The nurse confirmed that he was still head down and even got a few pics for us, but nothing too exciting. I think he's a little too big to get the really good pics... we didn't even get to see his face, just a leg and the top of his head. But that's okay... we'll get to see him soon enough!!!

Week 38

38 weeks, 1 day - 9/21/10

Not much has changed from last week. My doctor had the week off, but came in for all of her OB appointments on Monday. Since we had just seen her the previous Thursday, I didn't see a point to have her check things... so we'll just wait and see if anything has progressed at next week's appointment!

Baby Shower!!

Half the time I can't believe I'm blessed enough to be married... so to be at my own baby shower... absolute CRAZINESS! My friend Lynn threw an awesome shower for me and I was so blessed by all my friends & family that were able to make it! :-) We had a great time playing games, eating yummy food, opening gifts and just plain chit-chattin' with friends!! It was awesome!!!

Lynn made Mason a cute little truck bank!!

A little game of "I Never" but instead of drinking... you had to put some coins in Baby Mason's new bank!

An entire package of diapers for Chris to use... these are ALL his!! LOL!!!

Birthday boy!

Chris turned 28 today! His birthday fell on a Monday, and Labor Day, so it was nice that it fell on a day off for us to play! We slept in until 10:30 am or so, got ready and jumped in the car, headed to Pt. Townsend... with a quick stop at Frugal's for a birthday burger! We didn't have any actual plans for the day, so when we got to Pt. Townsend, we walked around a bit in the rain and then continued on. We drove through Port Hadlock, Port Ludlow, stopped and walked around the bunkers at Ft. Worden and eventually ended up in Silverdale where we picked up a car seat!! YEAH!! I feel better now, because if baby decides to come early, we can atleast take him home from the hospital now!! :-) He doesn't have a place to sleep in his room yet, but that will come soon enough! Anyway, after some shopping, we had a yummy dinner at the Silver City Brewery and then headed back to Port Angeles. We got back early enough for me to still make his birthday cake and we semi-watched the movie Star Trek, while both playing on our computers! It was a great day... it doesn't take much to make us happy, as long as we're together, we're good!! :-) I think we're both relishing in any one-on-one time that we have, because once Baby C comes, life is going to change big time... for the good, of course... but it's definitely going to change!!

Gracie made the trip with us, too! She needs her quality time, too, before Baby C arrives!!

Our new car seat!!

And I couldn't resist buying this warm, fuzzy sleeper for Baby C! It will be perfect for bringing him home from the hospital!!! I know I'll be getting stuff at my shower and such, but I wanted his "coming home" outfit to be something mommy picked out!! :-)

Week 36

36 weeks - 9/6/10

CrAzY!

4 more weeks to go! The weather is getting colder and luckily I still have 1 pair of jeans that still fit! Yeah for stretch jeans!!! :-)

Flip, baby flip!!

If you needed a laugh, our house was the place to be on Saturday evening. So we're creeping up on 36 weeks and Baby C is currently in the breech position, so our Dr. told us to try laying upside down on an ironing board, propped up on a couch... so that's what we did! Apparently, gravity is supposed to "motivate" the baby to turn. We also did some googling and read that babies can respond to light, like from a flashlight, and classical music. SO... here I was, blood rushing to my head for about 10 minutes, with Chris's iPhone resting on my belly, blasting classical music... AND him moving a flashlight around on my belly. The same flashlight that Gracie believes is her toy, because of the laser. So she was rather interested in what we were doing... if she only knew how much her life is going to change in the next month or so!! Anyway, the whole thing was pretty comical. Chris took video, of course, in my wonderful state, which I'm sure will be shown to our son some day! Oh the joys I have to look forward to... because one Cummings boy wasn't enough!! Haha!!! I can't wait!!!!

Week 35

35 weeks, 2 days - 9/1/10

Things are still going well! It's still rough to sleep at night... getting up every 1.5 - 2 hrs. now, and my hips are usually killing me enough that I have to sleep a couple of hours sitting up. But overall, I have NO complaints! I have been feeling really great... I'm not working, so I can get in my afternoon naps... Chris is doing good at getting me to walk... and the little discomfort I have, is all going to be worth the blessing we get in a couple of weeks!!! YIKES!!!! It's weird to hear that it's down to weeks... instead of months!! This pregnancy has flown by, that's for sure!!

Week 34

34 weeks, 4 days - 8/27/10

We had another good doctor's appt. today! I measured right at 34 inches, which was perfect! Baby C is still in the breech position, with his head up, butt down and legs piked up. Although he did switch sides... so now his feet are on the right side. But Dr. H said that he still has plenty of room to move, as she was swishing his little head back and forth in my belly! We are now having appts. every 2 weeks, and starting at Week 36, it will be every week. She said that if Baby C hasn't moved to the proper position by next week's appt. we'll start talking about the possibility of C-sections and scheduling an appt. at the hospital to get an ultrasound to see his position and try an aversion, where they physically try to move him. As much as I'd love to see another ultrasound, I'd rather him just move on his own. I've heard the aversion isn't the most comfortable procedure, and sometimes they don't budge anyway, or they'll flip right back after it's all done. I've also heard that babies tend to just flip on their own at the last minute... so I'm praying for him to just flip on his own! Feel free to join me in that prayer!! :-)

First purchase!

We have been blessed with so many great hand-me-downs!! From clothes, to toys, to swings... you name it!! I can't wait to actually get furniture in the baby's room, so I can start putting stuff away!! But last month, I saw this in Target and resisted the temptation to buy it... but when we went to Target again for our anniversary, and it was still there... I gave in. It was just too cute not to have!! :-)

Week 33

33 weeks, 6 days - 8/22/10
(Almost missed our week 33 pic again! But got it in with one day to spare!)

Chris and Gracie felt like they needed some love, too!
