GO CHIEFS!!!

Although I was heartbroken that the Chiefs game was moved to Friday and I missed it... my adorable nephew Jordan surprised me with a Tony Gonzales jersey and life was all better!!

Gotta love bedtime...

After dinner with my sis, we headed to Salina for a quick visit with Matt's fam. Ethan was sweet enough to stay up past his bedtime just to see Aunt Cece!! After a few bedtime stories and lots of hugs and kisses... it was home, sweet, home to Hays, Kansas!

1st stop... Kansas City!

First things first... FOOD! After my folks picked us up at the airport, we hooked up with my sister Tiffany and bro-n-law Mark for some good ole Mexican food!!

We survived!

So much for getting another post in before heading back to P-town! Sorry! The last few days of our trip flew by!! Thursday night we planned on going bowling, but we were shut down b/c Fort Hays's lanes in the basement of the Union were torn out during the summer and all of the lanes were booked for the place on Vine. Am I just not up on bowling... since when do you have to place reservations?? Well, I think we ended up playing games at the house and just chilled, which was fine!

Friday morning was another early one as I got up to chill with Mr. Jordan. Lily and I took him on an exciting adventure to the new coffee shop downtown and then headed to Mom & Krisson's office to say HI to all the girls! Tiff, Steph and Ethan and Seth arrived that afternoon and the craziness began!! 3 boys running or scooting around, constant noise, sippy cups and toys EVERYWHERE... it was the most wonderful, chaotic madness I could ever dream of!! Nephews are fun!! And all the siblings aren't that bad either!! :-) It's funny, I don't feel like I've gotten any older. I've been out here for 6 yrs. and it feels like life has hardly passed by... then I go home and realize that every single sibling has gotten married, and now I have 3 adorable nephews. Out of all my college friends... there's 2 of us left with no hubby or kids. Crazy.

Anyway, Friday night we chilled at the house with the fam. My oldest brother Matt showed up later that night and we hung out and when everyone wimped out and went to bed, Lily and I met up with my girls at the Q and then headed over to the HPC... that's right, the Home Party Club!!! It wasn't too bad of a crowd for a Friday, which was surprising. It was more like a FHSU mid-90's reunion... with the FHSU baseball team and then us girls. It was actually pretty fun!! It was neat to see how much folks had changed... or hadn't changed!!

Saturday was filled with more nephew-watching. We didn't end up getting to go to the FHSU football game, which was a bummer, but we did head to the park to see the "Big Animals" (Buffalo) and roll down the dike, swing and play in the leaves for awhile. And this worked out well for me, b/c I could hear the football game... which we lost miserably. Surprise, surprise! We headed back to the house for more Washers, Chris cooked up some Beer Butt Chicken, some board games and b-day cake for Matt & Steph!! Lily and I also jetted out for about an hour to stop by Alison's and head out to Jill & Bill's reception. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I got to see all my girls in July at Molly's wedding, so family was my top priority this trip!!! But I couldn't miss seeing Jill all beautiful in her wedding dress and I had to see Megan, Jay, Amy & Wes!!!

Sunday was church and a big family dinner and then the dreaded wind-down. The last minute packing, photo shoots and the millions of good-byes as everyone heads back on to I-70 to their final destination!! Tiff, Lil and I were the last to go. We stopped at Cervs for 1 more snowball and we were off!!

It was a great trip!! I'm sure Lily could imagine a million other places that she'd want to spend a week vacation, but I'm so grateful that she was willing to experience Hays, KS. As much as I love being in the city, I wouldn't trade growing up in Hays for anything. It's nice running into someone you know everywhere you go... and I mean EVERYWHERE!! And although Oregon has to be the most beautiful state in the continental US... KS definitely has it's own beauty.

SO... pictures will be coming very soon!! And don't worry... I won't bore you with all of the 500+ that I took!! But you will see quite a few by the end of the week!!! Have a great week everyone!!!

Toto says hello!

Whaddup! Life is good in Kansas!! In fact, the "hick" in Lily is coming out... it was REALLY deep down, but I knew it was there!!!! She proved as she "got'er done" and kicked my butt in washers... a.k.a. redneck bowling!! She's learning the lingo and has finally quit asking "how long does it take to get there?" She has finally grasped the fact that she runs races longer than the length of our town!! She's adapting well!!

We've been doing a whole lotta nothing... but it's been a nice break from the hustle-n-bustle of our normal lives back in P-town! Our adventure started last Saturday when we arrived in KS & my folks picked us up at the airport around 3:30pm. We met up with my sister Tiffany and brother-n-law Mark, for a mid-afternoon dinner and then headed west on to I-70 for our next stop in Salina, KS. We got there around 8:30pm and stopped at my brother Matt's house and chilled with his family, Steph and my 2 nephews Ethan and Seth! It was past their bedtime, and getting close to ours so we didn't stay long before fueling up with some ice cream and finishing the last 90 minutes to good 'ole Hays, KS! Sunday was pretty chill. We went to church, watched some football, headed to the pumpkin patch with Mr. Jordan and chilled at the house! Exciting stuff... I'm sure Lily was overwhelmed! Mom and Krisson had Monday and Tuesday off so we all hung out... visiting The Mall, Taco Shop and getting atleast 1 snowball daily!

Lily and I have managed to get out and run each morning while getting a touring the big city of Hays at the same time. Monday we ran up towards the golf course and Country Club where all the rich folk live. Tuesday we drove out to Gross Coliseum and then ran along the dike, showing Lily some of my favorite spots... such as the buffalo, the park where the oh-so famous Oktoberfest occurs, Larks Park (baseball field) and the legendary "right field", the stepping stones, and then of course, we had to run thru the campus and by my favorite landmarks... Lewis Field (football field) and ending at Gross (where I spent my weekends watching volleyball and basketball)!! Everywhere we go there's a story to tell and no matter where we go, we run into someone I know!! Hays seems even smaller than when I left!!

Wednesday we had Jordan to ourselves and headed to Gma & Gpa's house for lunch! We chilled there for a couple hours. Gpa busted out the Hawaii photos from his glory days in the Coast Guard, so Lily and him chatted for quite some time! Then Lil and I took Jordan on a walk down to the campus thru the quad and by the AGD house and just enjoyed the beautiful weather! It has been SO nice this week!! (Yeah, thank you Lord!) Wed. night we headed to the Q for some pool and good 'ole corn nuggets and ended the night with an exciting game of Chicken Feet (dominoes)!! Well, that's how my family ended the night... Lily and I manage to watch several old skool episodes of Law & Order on the big screen before calling it a night... some things will never change!!

Today is Thursday, and Lily and I ran to my Gma & Gpa's house. Never thought that day would happen!! Gma's house used to be SO FAR away... I mean, come on... it's ALL the way across town. Now that I run... it's less than a 5K!! Crazy!! We picked up some tennis rackets and then headed to the park to play tennis for a few hours!! It's something we've always wanted to do back in P-town, but haven't gotten around to doing it!! Success... well, sort of. We suck. But we had fun, dang it! Mom and Krisson picked us up at the courts and it was back to the Taco Shop with Gma & Gpa. We're just chilling this afternoon and I believe bowling is in the plans for tonight and a stop at the new brewery to see what this KS brew is all about! I think Lily and I are spoiled by all the Pacific NW breweries, but we'll see!!

Well, I hear my nephew so naptime must be over, which means it's playtime!! I'll be posting again before we head back to give ya the scoop on the last few days of our trip and I have a ton of pics... but can't get them uploaded on my folks computer, so you'll have to check back next week for the photos!! Til next time... peace out!!

How is it possible...

that my Friday could be SO crappy before 8:30 am? Let me just tell you... i HATE freaking spiders!! Yes, I know that I am bigger than them... but they are evil. I've found 2 of them in my room this week as I was trying to get out of the house for work and if anyone has witnessed the routine I have to kill these stupid things... you'll understand why I was 30 minutes late for work each of those mornings!!! So this morning, it was above my bed and that just doesn't work for me so I go to the kitchen to get my swiffer, reach for paper towels (we're out, so i figure I'll grab toilet paper on the way back to my room), reach for the RAID under the sink... tons of ants crawling on the counter, dishwasher, cabinets... LOVELY!! Cuz that's exactly what I needed this morning. SO... I rush to the bathroom to get a roll of toilet paper to start smashing ants. Once that task was completed, I create my little spider-killing machine with the last few drop of Raid. I head to my room where the spider has now started on his escape route, however, still over my bed. I put the Raid covered-toilet paper-attached to the swiffer machine up to the ceiling and miss! DANG IT! I finally get it flat and hold it there for awhile, allowing the Raid to work it's deathly magic and slowly bring it down and the STUPID falls on my bed and starts crawling!!! UGH!!! I frantically run to the bathroom, grab some toilet paper and rush back to my bed to grab the scary monster and rush back to the toilet to ensure it swims somewhere FAR, FAR away from my house!!! So once my heart stopped pounding, all the rodents were killed, I went on my merry way to work. Relief... the day can start, it's Friday, the sun is shining and I hear a text message coming in. Oooh, maybe it's work, and they want to know what kind of Starbucks I want... :-)

NO. It's the horrid news that the CHIEFS are playing tonight and not Sunday... completely crushing my hopes of watching a Chiefs game WITH my family while I'm in KS next week!! I leave tomorrow for goodness sake!! It was one of the top things on my list that I was looking forward to... cheering them on, talking football, watching it on the big screen with people that LOVE them as much as I do!!! And now my heart is broken and life sucks. They're not even showing it nationally... just in Kansas and South Florida. DANG IT!!!!

Thank you Lord!

FINALLY, my world is seeing some sunshine!! The Chiefs pulled off a win on Sunday against the Washington Redskins. I, of course, wasn't able to watch it, but thanks to mom & dad I got frequent updates!! :-) AND, thanks to Steven Jackson on Monday night, my fantasy football team, Kansas Grrlz Kick *** finally got their 2nd win!! Check out my team logo... sweet, huh?!So... the countdown is on. Only 3 more days until Lily and I click our heels and head to KS! I have every intention on keeping this updated with new pics & stories of all our adventures in Hays, America... but we'll see. My super-adorable nephew who is now on the verge of walking, might have me too busy chasing him and keeping him out of mom's "white" room!! Can't wait!! :-)

Losing my touch...

For those of you who knew me in college... I was a picture FREAK! My camera was attached to my fingers and you would have thought I worked at Wally World b/c I was there so often dropping off or picking up pics! Well, I still love my camera, and digital is a beautiful thing... I guess I'm just not as bold in whipping it out as I used to be! This last weekend was a good one, too, and I have no pictures to show for it! Nuts!

Friday night I hooked up with my new friends at Crossroads church up in Vancouver for some good 'ole fashioned cosmic bowling! We met up for dinner first and then headed to the bowling lanes to sport cool shoes and bowl under the black lights! Let's just say, I've never bowled so horribly in my life! Usually I improve with each game... this time I got worse!! I did rack up 4 strikes throughout the night, but unfortunately the gutter balls did more damage!! And as if making a fool out of myself on the bowling lane wasn't bad enough, my new friend Lori and I attempted pool until the placed closed. I did atleast improve on my 2nd game of that and redeemed myself a little bit! The big kicker of the evening tho, was the fact that I attended the social gathering IN SPITE of Lily and Ana NOT going! This forced me to interact and meet new folks without following around my faithful friends like a little puppy! Go me!!

Saturday was a Girls Night Out! My girls and I haven't been out for over a year & a half!! So Saturday we made dinner reservations at a local spot and then finished the night off dancing! Although, our age is definitely showing b/c the girls started dropping off when 11pm hit. And the last of our bunch was walking to our car by 12:30am. It could have been we had church at 7:45am the next morning, but still... it's pretty sad. My legs were even sore in the morning from dancing. Gone are the days of the HOME Party Club!!! :-)

And b/c I love seeing pics... and b/c I don't have any from this last weekend... I'm posting a picture of our last Girls Night Out back in June 04!!! Some of the firls are the same, some are not... we've added some new friends to the circle... but you get the idea!!

Only 3 more wks...

and I get to scoop this little cutie up and not let go for 8 days!! I can't wait!! My fam just sent me new pics of Jordan, so of course, I have to show him off!! He's almost 11 mos. now!! He's changed SO much since the last time I saw him & according to the fam he'll be walking by the time I get home! I know some of you might challenge me on this statement, but I'm convinced that I have the cutest nephews in the entire world!

The sun'll come out...

apparently NOT tomorrow! It looks like I won't be singing this song until... oh, i don't know... JUNE 06! It appears that the winter season has made itself at home up here in the Pacific NW. Friday we reached a record amt. of rainfall for one day... it was lovely! I had the joy of NOT bringing my lunch, which means I had to leave the dry, comfort of my cubicle and brave the torrential downpour that was occuring outside. Although I arrived back at the office with my jeans soaked up to my knees... it worked out well, b/c my boss let everyone leave an hour early just so I could go home and dry out! I love my boss!

I only had 1 real goal for this weekend and I accomplished it by not waking up until noon on Saturday! Just in time for college football! And to top it off, grocery shopping was an added bonus for the weekend!! It's an exciting life I live!!
